I've seen mention on various sites of a variant called "longgammon",
but I haven't been able to find the rules.

Hi
Longgammon is played on VOG2. On their rules page for this variant it says
"All the rules are as in regular Backgammon except for the starting
position" and then it shows a board with all 15 checkers starting on your
furthest point ( from your opponent's 1 point or your 24 point ).
